Fitch sprinters take top spots in 60 meters

The Austintown Fitch boys and girls track and field teams competed in the state high school indoor track meet Sunday in Kent.

For the boys team, Te’John Lawrence placed first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.12. Andy Cercone placed second in the same event in 7.23.

George Thomas took second in the weight throw with a toss of 64-10.5.

For the girls team, Ali Tolich placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 48-5. She is currently ranked No. 1 in the state in the event.

MaKayla Martin placed second in the high jump in 5-3. She is currently ranked No. 2 in the state in the event.

Paige Henley placed eighth in the same event with a jump of 4’10”.

Jen Shiley placed eighth in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.3.

The 4x200 meter relay team of Theresa Scott, Jen Shiley, Kaity Shiley and Jenna Yacovone placed fifth in a time of 1:53.5. The 4x400 meter relay team of Shiley, Taylor Entzi, Shiley and Yacovone also placed fifth overall with a time of 4:26.6.
