AMS Red shatters two school records

The Austintown Middle School eighth grade girls basketball Red team completed the first undefeated regular season in 20 years by defeating Boardman Center 58-22 on Feb. 8.

Sarah Melfe led the Falcons with 17 points. Megan Sefcik had 16 points and became the all-time leading scorer in AMS history by breaking a 20-year-old school record with 266 points in one season.

The team beat Howland 43-26 on Feb. 4. Sefcik scored 25 points to lead the team. Melfe had eight points; Gabbie Butcher, six points; and Maura Bianco added four points.
