Man charged in assault to be arraigned today

CAMPBELL — A man accused in an assault and kidnapping last weekend was behind bars and expected to be arraigned today.

Steven Jenkins, 33, of Youngstown, was arrested by Youngstown police on Campbell’s warrants charging him with kidnapping to engage in sexual activity, felonious assault and aggravated burglary.

Youngstown police found him Wednesday at the rescue mission and turned him over to Campbell.

He remained in the city’s jail without bond, with his arraignment set this morning.

Jenkins is accused of bursting into a home on Gordon Avenue early Feb. 20 and attacking Steven Malutic, 39.

He then forced a woman who was at the house with Malutic into her own car after Malutic jumped out a second-floor window to ask a neighbor to call police.

The woman was driven to a secluded location in Weathersfield.

Weathersfield police are investigating an allegation involving the woman there.

Another drug suspect arrested in Mineral Ridge

MINERAL RIDGE — Weathersfield police have made another arrest as they pursue to stop drug activity around the Forest Ridge apartment complex.

Ryan Howard, 21, of Mineral Ridge, turned himself in to authorities Thursday.

Howard, 21, is charged with three counts of trafficking.

Police arrested six other suspects in connection with the investigation Wednesday. They are: Jamie Bott, 28, Cheryl Bott, 57, and Jason Armeni, 24, all of Mineral Ridge; Dean Hites, 23, of Warren; Randy Hites, 28, of Newton Falls; and Bryan Dotson, 26, of Cortland.
