A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:
HUBBARD
Feb. 19
Drugs: An official with Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported a student was found in possession of drugs.
Feb. 20
Criminal damaging: A man told police he saw his former wife writing on the outside of his West Liberty Street residence.
Criminal damaging: Someone entered a garage in the 200 block of Rebecca Avenue and damaged a car.
Menacing: Officers responded to an argument between two male drivers near Myron Street.
Feb. 21
Criminal damaging: A front window was damaged at a home in the 1100 block of Palmetto Drive.
Menacing: An East Liberty Street resident reported receiving online threats.
Theft: A male in a dark hoodie and blue jeans left Dollar General, 886 W. LIberty St., without paying for merchandise.
Feb. 23
Criminal mischief: A Stewart Avenue woman found a mark on her vehicle’s rubber molding.
LIBERTY
Feb. 19
Criminal damaging: Someone placed three nails in a vehicle’s tire in the 700 block of Santa Monica Drive, apparently in a deliberate effort to damage the tire.
Assault: Police charged 37-year-old Mayra M. Espada, 332 Ayers St., Youngstown, after an employee with Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road, alleged Espada had struck her several times in the head and neck after becoming enraged about a comment made. The worker sought medical assistance for her injuries, a report said.
Theft: An employee of a Belmont Avenue business reported her purse stolen.
Harassment: A Richards Drive woman reported getting a series of harassing text messages.
Theft: A charge was pending against a 31-year-old Youngstown man after a DVD and a snack food were stolen from Wal-Mart. Theft: A Shannon Road woman noticed a bottle of a prescription medication missing from a kitchen shelf.
Feb. 21
Theft: A Girard woman at a Cardinal Drive church reported $500 missing from her wallet.
Theft: Two males stole a $900 touch-screen computer from Wal-Mart, then left in a dark blue Buick LeSabre.
Theft: The rear license plate was removed from a vehicle in the 1700 block of Lucretia Drive.
Feb. 22
Drugs: Officers cited Lisa Sigley, 26, of 2873 Arlington Ave., McDonald, during a traffic stop in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue when, they said, a small bag of suspected marijuana was found.
Feb. 23
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a residence in the 1700 block of Church Hill Road via a side door before taking about $1,600 worth of copper tubing.
GIRARD
Feb. 22
Burglary: To a residence in the 30 block of Broadway Avenue through a rear window. Stolen were a $3,000 gold wristwatch, Sony PlayStation 3 and Xbox systems and games, and a necklace, for a $5,548 loss.
Feb. 23
Fraud: A Hazel Street woman reported a male claiming to be her grandson called from Canada saying he had been arrested and needed her to send $2,240 so he could post bond. The woman realized it was a scam when he was unable to produce her grandson’s full name, a report said.
