Poland and Boardman police calls


A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Feb. 13

Theft: Two males test-drove a vehicle belonging to Milton Auto Sales, 4464 Center Road, and stole a $150 battery jump-starter.

Feb. 20

Theft: Three checks were taken from a residence in the 6600 block of Katahdin Drive.

Recovered property: A 2000 Pontiac Sunfire was found in Austintown with damage to its steering column after having been stolen in the 4400 block of Center Road.

BOARDMAN

Feb. 19

Aggravated menacing: A worker for a West Western Reserve Road business reported her former boyfriend threatened via phone to kill her.

Domestic violence: John C. Perry III, 26, was taken into custody at his home at 163 Indianola Road, Boardman, charged and taken to the Mahoning County jail after a woman alleged that while driving her to Austintown, Perry became angry and continually assaulted her, causing numerous injuries.

Aggravated menacing: A man at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant told police a former employee of his threatened to retaliate as part of a pattern of threats since the accuser had terminated the worker.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear driver’s-side door was damaged in the 7100 block of Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: A woman’s purse was stolen from a shopping cart at a Doral Drive store.

Theft: A Tamarisk Trail woman discovered someone bought a $329.70 airline ticket using her checking-account number.

Theft: A Struthers boy, 15, was charged with stealing a $20 necklace/earring set from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported $400 stolen from her account at a township credit union.

Theft: A charge was filed against 41-year-old Wanda M. Duck, 48 E. Delason Ave., Youngstown, after cigars and cheese were stolen from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Domestic violence: Elwood R. Gingery, 63, of 9250 New Road, North Jackson, was charged after a township police officer said he saw Gingery get into a vehicle, become upset and strike his daughter twice in the head. Bond was set at $2,500.

Attempted burglary: Someone tried to enter the Wagon Wheel Motel, 7015 Market St., through a bathroom window.

Arrest: Police pulled over a vehicle on U.S. Route 224 and took into custody 45-year-old David R. Smith, 2499 Salt Springs Road, McDonald. Smith was wanted by Niles authorities on a charge of contempt of court.

Theft: Two men and a woman left Perkins Family Restaurant, 804 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying their $23.54 food bill.

Theft: A debit card, a cell phone and $60 were removed from a residence in the 100 block of Forest Park Drive.

Theft: Authorities booked 30-year-old Jawan B. Starkey, 76 Lansdowne Blvd., Youngstown, on a felony charge after $684 worth of clothing had been stolen from the J.C. Penney store.

Feb. 20

Burglary: To a second-floor apartment in the 5000 block of Aravesta Avenue after someone had placed a ladder under a rear bedroom window. Stolen were three TVs.

Arrest: A traffic stop on West Midlothian Boulevard led to the arrest of 23-year-old Sandi T. Weaver, 208 E. Ravenwood Ave., Youngstown, on a probation-violation warrant. Weaver also was charged with obstructing official business when, police said, she provided two false names.

Counterfeit: A phony $100 bill was found in a night deposit from Deals Nothing Over a Dollar, 255 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A $1,000 shirt press was stolen from behind Mill Creek Dry Cleaning, 7099 Lockwood Blvd.

Theft: A man reported the theft of $600 worth of miscellaneous hand tools he had stored at a Southern Boulevard business.

Assault: Jennifer L. Zebrasky, 24, of 422 Russell Ave., Poland, was charged after officers responded to a fight in the 6800 block of Lockwood Boulevard. A resident alleged Zebrasky, while searching for her boyfriend, had lunged at and punched her in the right cheek.

Menacing: A Meadowbrook Avenue man reported receiving a call with threats of harm.

Theft: Two girls stole more than $260 worth of perfume, as well as lotion, from Bath & Body Works, 379 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A woman told officers that after she accidentally dropped a bag of merchandise in the parking lot of a Doral Drive store, a male juvenile picked up and stole the bag.

Theft: A Columbiana man at a Market Street business returned to his car to find $800, checkbooks and silver dollars missing.

Assault: A woman reported her teenage daughter at the Southern Park Mall was punched five times, leaving a bump and discoloration near the girl’s left eye.

Feb. 21

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s driver’s-side window was smashed in the 100 block of Lemans Drive.

Possible theft: A Campbell man reported his wallet lost or stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road eatery.

Feb. 22

Identity theft: A South Avenue man found out his information had been used to secure a credit card.

Identity fraud: A Ridgewood Drive woman checking her account online noticed a $300 unauthorized deposit.

Fraud: A Newport Drive man reported someone had used his Visa card to make three unauthorized purchases totaling $2,900 for camera equipment and electronics.

Attempted theft: A Southern Boulevard man realized someone tried to make a $150 withdrawal from his account without consent.

Theft: An office key was stolen from St. Charles Church, 7345 Westview Drive.

Assault: A 14-year-old boy told authorities someone had shot him twice in the back with BBs as he walked on Lemans Drive.

Theft: Deana L. Jenkins, 23, of 2664 Tyrell St., Youngstown, was charged with taking a $20 pair of pants from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.
