CAMPBELL — A Youngstown man is being sought in assaults and a kidnapping that occurred here, police report.

Police have warrants for the arrest of Steven Jenkins, 33, of South Hazelwood Avenue. He has other addresses in the city as well, said Campbell Detective Sgt. John Rusnak.

Jenkins is accused of breaking into the home of Steven Malutic, 39, on Gordon Avenue at 12:35 a.m. Saturday.

His ex-girlfriend, a 27-year-old Youngstown woman, was with Malutic at the house, Rusnak said.

A police report says the two were upstairs in a bedroom when they heard banging and a crash downstairs.

Jenkins then burst into the bedroom and began to hit Malutic, the report says.

Malutic fell to the floor and was kicked in the chest and head, the report says. He jumped out a window, falling to a deck below, and ran to a neighbor’s house to ask the neighbor to call police.

He went back to his house, he told police, where he discovered that Jenkins and the woman were gone.

Rusnak said the woman told police Jenkins pushed her and forced her into her own car. They drove to a remote area, he said, in what the woman believes was Weathersfield Township.

Weathersfield Police are investigating other allegations the woman made. There are no charges filed there.

Campbell police have charged Jenkins with aggravated burglary, felonious assault and kidnapping to engage in sexual activity.

Malutic was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center after the assault. He was admitted for a concussion, Rusnak said. The police report said he had a missing tooth, a headache, chest pain, a sore ankle and cuts on his hands and feet.

The woman also went to St. Elizabeth’s afterward, Rusnak said.

Weathersfield police would not discuss the case, saying their investigation is ongoing. Their report indicates an episode involving the victim at an address on West Liberty Street.
