Charlie Sheen in rehab, takes break from show

LOS ANGELES — Charlie Sheen’s publicist says the actor has entered rehab and is taking a break from the hit CBS show “Two and a Half Men.” Publicist Stan Rosenfield wrote in a statement Tuesday that Sheen has voluntarily entered rehab for an unspecified reason and is seeking privacy.

The move comes roughly two months after Sheen’s arrest in Colorado after being accused of holding a knife to his wife’s throat and threatening to kill her. Sheen faces a felony domestic-violence charge in the case.

Sheen’s wife, Brooke, is also in rehab for an undisclosed reason.

NEW YORK — Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol will make her acting debut on the ABC Family drama series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

The network says the 19-year-old will play herself on an episode scheduled to shoot and air this summer. It will deal with the consequences of teen pregnancy.

The network calls Bristol Palin the most famous teenage mother in America. She was pregnant as her mother campaigned for vice president. Bristol Palin gave birth to her son, Tripp, in December 2008.

It’s official: Abbey Road Studios declared historic

LONDON — Officials say Britain’s culture minister officially has declared The Beatles’ Abbey Road Studios a historic building.

Tuesday’s announcement ensures that the venerable — but money-losing — music studios cannot be significantly altered without government permission.

The north London town house once hosted one of the world’s most sophisticated recording studios, used by artists including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck and Radiohead. It is still used by orchestras.

Presenters announced for inductees of Rock Hall

NEW YORK — Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio is inducting rock group Genesis into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month.

The presenters were announced Tuesday by the hall, which is based in Cleveland. Wyclef Jean will honor Jimmy Cliff. Barry and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees will induct ABBA. Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong will honor The Stooges. And Jackson Browne will induct David Geffen. The induction ceremony takes place March 15 in New York and will air live on Fuse TV at 8:30 p.m.

Chain won’t show ‘Alice’

LONDON — British cinema chain Odeon will not show Tim Burton’s fantasy adventure “Alice in Wonderland” in Britain, Ireland and Italy because of a dispute over the timing of the film’s DVD release, the company said Tuesday. Odeon objects to Walt Disney Pictures’ decision to leave only 12 weeks between the film’s theatrical and DVD releases in those countries, rather than the usual 17 weeks. Odeon said it had invested “considerable sums of money” in digital projection equipment to show 3-D films, and a shorter window to screen films would undermine its investment.
