F.O.C.U.S. will meet at ACS office, Canfield

CANFIELD — F.O.C.U.S. (Friends Offering Compassionate Understanding Support) will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the American Cancer Society office, 525 N. Broad St., Canfield. The speaker will be Dr. Michael Obeng, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Refreshments will be served. Anyone who needs information should call the ACS office, (800) ACS-2345.

Historian to speak

HUBBARD — Fortnightly IV will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at Clara’s Restaurant. The speaker will be J. P. Marsh, CPA and historian.

Newcomers Club schedules luncheon

CANFIELD — Newcomers Club’s luncheon will be at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Drake’s Landing on Western Reserve Road. Members will order from the menu.

Members and guests are asked to call (330) 726-9620 for reservations. The program includes a demonstration of knitting machines and a make-it and take-it by Cindy Burke.

Members and guests are asked to take a bar of soap. The club welcomes new members. Luncheon meetings take place the fourth Wednesday of the month. Members are also invited to the Needlework Club, Birthday Group, Roundtowners and Movie Group.

Author to sign book WARREN — Author Karen J. Common will be available to sign her book “Held In Heaven’s Arms: Triumph Over the Dark Abyss of Death” from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Borders, 2102 Cortland Road, SE.

The book tells the true story of tragic loss through the eyes of Common, wife of Dick and mother of James, as she explores the mystery that surrounded the happenings in a remote area of Canada.

Her response to the death of her husband and only son proves that faith can be renewed.
