Youngstown trims $1M from budget deficit

YOUNGSTOWN — The city administration has trimmed $1 million from a projected 2010 general fund budget deficit, but the spending plan still shows some $2.5 million in red ink.

City council is reviewing the administration’s version of the budget and will have its own hearings as it works to adopt the spending plan by March 31.

The city parks and recreation department is taking a big hit under the administration’s plan, but Mayor Jay Williams said parks and playgrounds will be open this summer.
