Mercer County looking for glitch that shorted workers

MERCER, Pa. (AP) — Officials in one western Pennsylvania county are trying to figure out why workers’ checks were shorted last pay day.

Mercer County Treasurer Ginny Steese-Richardson says PNC Bank caught the error early Friday morning, which enabled the bank to wire extra money from the county’s accounts to workers to make up for the shortage.

Still, county officials are continuing to try to figure out how the mistake happened and to ensure that all employees had all their money.

County officials say this is the second time a similar thing has happened in the last two years.
