3 killed in one-car crash on I-376 in western Pa.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say a car plunged off an interstate down a hillside and crashed into a grove of trees, killing three people and injuring two others.

Police say two men and a woman between the ages of 18 and 24 were killed after the car failed to negotiate a curve at 2 a.m. Sunday on I-376 just before the entrance to the Fort Pitt tunnels. The car went off the interstate and plunged about halfway down the wooded hillside, landing with its underside wedged against trees above the Banksville Road commercial district. The 18-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger were able to get out of the vehicle and call for help.

The names of the victims have not been released, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
