Four people stabbed outside Springfield Township bar

PETERSBURG — Four people were stabbed during a bar parking- lot fight, though none of the injuries was serious, police said.

Two men, including one who pulled out a knife, were causing trouble at the Petersburg Country Club on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road early Sunday, said Sgt. Ray Fellows of the Springfield Township Police Department. The two men were escorted out of the bar.

About 2:45 a.m. Sunday, a 25-year-old New Springfield woman, who was with her 25-year-old boyfriend, also of New Springfield, asked the two men, who were standing behind her van in the parking lot, to move, Fellows said.

The two men came toward the woman and her boyfriend, Fellows said.

The man with the knife pulled it out and stabbed the woman in the neck.

Her boyfriend went to protect her and was cut on his hand.

A 29-year-old New Springfield man also tried to protect the woman and was stabbed in his neck and received a cut above his eye, Fellows said.

A 29-year-old East Palestine man saw what was happening and wrestled the knife away but not before having his hand cut, Fellows said.

The three men who were cut with the knife refused medical treatment. The woman was treated and released from St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown.

The two suspects ran from the club’s parking lot after the fight.

Police know who the two suspects are, and “we’ll track them down,” Fellows said.

The incident is still under investigation.
