Rev. Julianne Smith is new pastor at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

POLAND — The Rev. Julianne Smith will be installed as pastor of Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Route 224, at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 by Bishop Elizabeth Eaton of the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Bishop Eaton will deliver the sermon.

A fellowship reception will follow.

Pastor Smith graduated from Wittenberg University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1985 with a master’s of divinity degree.

Her first pastoral call was at St. Mark Lutheran in Ada, where she served 14 years. In 2000, she was called to First Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky, where she served until January 2009.

In addition to her pastoral duties, Pastor Smith has been active in the Ministerial Association, served on the board of the American Red Cross and on the advisory board of Camp Mowana, a Lutheran summer retreat camp in Ashland County.

Prince of Peace, which marked its 50th anniversary in September, helped establish Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Retirement Home, Poland Food Pantry and Camp Frederick in Rogers.

She married Stuart Smith in 1980 and they have two grown daughters and a granddaughter.

She grew up in Greenville, Ohio.
