Niles teacher suspended 10 days, no pay

SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR

NILES — A longtime math teacher at McKinley High School has been suspended for 10 work days without pay by the board of education.

Superintendent Rocco Adduci said Kelly Newbrough, a district teacher for 16 years, was suspended Friday for “violating school policy.”

Newbrough will not be able to return to work until March 5.

Adduci declined to say how Newbrough had violated school policy.

“We have an agreement with the teachers union not to disclose information pertaining to this suspension,” Adduci said.

The superintendent attributed the length of the punishment to “the situation” without offering any further details but said he did not believe 10 days to be unusually long.

Adduci said it was the first time Newbrough had been suspended.
