Lenten services and programs

At area churches

Greater Austintown Ministerial Association: The association will conduct ecumenical worship services for Lent on six Sundays in February and March and conclude with a Good Friday service on April 2. Services, all at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted, will be: Sunday, at Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Road, Austintown; Feb. 28, Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2432 S. Raccoon Road, Austintown; March 7, Emmanual Community Church, 6512 Kirk Road, Canfield; March 14, Bethel Assembly of God Church, 3807 Mahoning Ave., Austintown; March 21, Wickliffe Presbyterian Church, 45 Idlewood Rd., Austintown; March 28, Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown; and April 2 at noon,First United Methodist Church of West Austintown, 6749 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.

Each host church will provide the format for the service, the music, and refreshments after the service. For the March 28 service, music will be provided by the Ecumenical Community Choir directed by Harold and Cheri Blackann.

The Greater Austintown Ministerial Association is a fellowship of local Christian pastors and leaders from a variety of nominations and affiliations who want to exemplify unity and coordinate charitable services to meet the needs of the Austintown community.

St. Maron Maronite Catholic Church, 1555 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown: Traditional Maronite prayers around the cross will be offered at 7 p.m. Fridays during Lent.
