Canfield swimmers set relay records at sectionals

Canfield High swimmers Johanna Dunkel, Hilary Allen, Kathryn Mason and Emily King combined to set two school relay records and qualified for district competition in both events, during Saturday’s girls North Division I sectional meet at the Akron Firestone High pool.
Dunkel, Allen, Mason and King won the 200-yard freestyle relay championship in 1:42.19, and placed second in the 400 free relay in 3:44.10 to set the school records and gain district berths Friday at Cleveland State University.
Gia Velasquez of Canfield also qualified for the district by placing second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.76, just missing breaking her school record.
The Canfield team placed third with 215 points, while Hudson won the meet with 463.50.
