A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Feb. 13

Criminal damaging: Dents and scratches were found on a vehicle near U.S. Route 422.

Aggravated menacing: Police responded to possible gunfire near a Smithsonian Street residence, where a female said her boyfriend had tossed firecrackers at her. She recanted her story, however, and four .45-caliber casings were found near the home, a report said.

Theft: A woman told police a man stole $150 from her residence in the 400 block of East Prospect Street.

Feb. 14

Assaults: Charges of aggravated assault and simple assault were pending against a 17-year-old Austintown boy after authorities responded to a fight at an Elruth Court home. One resident alleged the teen held a knife to his throat and beat him up; a woman said she had been kicked and punched.

Arrest: A traffic stop near East Liberty Street resulted in the arrest of Michael A. Smith, no information provided, who was wanted on a warrant from Liberty Township.

Theft: A man reported the theft of a concrete saw and another piece of equipment from a construction site in the 1200 block of Shannon Road.

HUBBARD

Feb. 12

Arrest: Trumbull County jail authorities had in custody Gary Long, no information given, who was wanted by Hubbard police. He was accused of failing to appear for a pretrial hearing on a charge of violating a protection order.

Feb. 13

Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s windows were broken near Scott Street and Fifth Avenue.

Arrest: Poland Township police stopped Henry McDonald of Hubbard, who was wanted on a charge of failure to file his 2006 income taxes. He was released on a $525 cash bond.

Feb. 16

Drugs: Police pulled over a car near Myron Street and took into custody Kristen Daniels, of 46 Coal Bank Road, Greenville, Pa. Daniels was wanted on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Menacing: A School Street man reported a former employee walked past the accuser’s home and threatened him.

LIBERTY

Feb. 11

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Trumbull Court woman said a friend borrowed but failed to return the accuser’s 2005 Chevrolet.

Feb. 12

Drugs: Authorities investigated gunshots in the 5900 block of Belmont Avenue and charged 28-year-old Troy T. Keslar, 7460 Ranier Trail, Boardman, with possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, being a convicted felon with a firearm, receiving stolen property and obstructing official business. While searching inside a business, police found in a crawl space two pistols, one of which had been reported stolen; also found was a lockbox with suspected crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, a report showed.

Assault: A charge was pending against a Warren man, 58, after a woman at a Belmont Avenue motel said he became angry and punched her several times in the head and face, causing swelling and bruising.

Drugs: Officers pulled over a vehicle on Belmont Avenue and cited 30-year-old Terrell L. Leonard, 3009 Green Acres Drive, Youngstown, on a charge of drug abuse in a motor vehicle. A bag of suspected marijuana was in his pants pocket, a report said.

Identity theft: A Shannon Road man learned his identity had been used to establish a phone account and that the account was delinquent by $2,406.

Bad check: A worker for Wharmby Sports Inc., 3173 Belmont Ave., said a 31-year-old Niles man bought $175 worth of sporting equipment with a check later returned on a closed account.

Theft: A charge was pending against a Youngstown woman, 36, after two compact discs and a manicure set were stolen from Wal-Mart, 200 Goldie Road.

Feb. 13

Theft: A 15-year-old Youngstown boy was detained and released to the custody of his mother after a $30 BB gun had been taken from Wal-Mart.

Assault: An intern at Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill Road, reported a 12-year-old patient struck her in the face, punched her in the back and tossed a chair, striking the accuser’s leg, during a counseling session.

Feb. 14

Arrest: Officers in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue picked up Michael Monaco, 34, of 44 Tuttle Drive, who was wanted by Niles authorities on a probation-violation count.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Catherine Street led to the arrest of 22-year-old Amanda L. Lingenfelter, 33 Fairlawn Ave., Youngstown, on a misdemeanor charge of possession of dangerous drugs when, police said, she admitted having no prescription for one tablet each of Xanex and Vicodin in her purse.

Menacing: A Trumbull Court woman accused her former boyfriend of threatening to set fire to her car.

Feb. 15

Arrest: Police responded to a disturbance at 3035 North Gate Road, where they took 23-year-old Saron R. Tapscott, same address, into custody. Tapscott was wanted on a felony charge of drug possession.

Feb. 16

Theft: A Tibbetts-Wick Road man reported 21 DVDs stolen from his home.
