2 men arrested on drug charges
STAFF REPORT
WARREN — Police officers arrested two men on drug charges late Thursday at the corner of Washington Street Northeast and Vine Avenue Northeast — the site of two recent violent incidents.
It is the same location where police found Michael A. Travis, 30, of Detroit, dead of gunshot wounds Jan. 20. Travis had been charged with aggravated drug trafficking at a house on West Market Street in September.
Washington and Vine also is the location where Eric Collins, 31, of Warren confronted three men in mid-January he said were dealing drugs near his house.
One of the three pulled a shotgun out of his pants and fired next to Collins, narrowly missing him.
In Thursday’s incident, officers saw three men in the parking area at the rear of 355 Washington, and each man started walking away when they noticed the police car.
Officers found a needle and syringe on two of the men — Daniel Guerrero, 21, of Oak Knoll Avenue Southeast and Gerasimos Gianoutsos, 21, of Bonnie Brae Avenue Northeast — and charged them with possession of drug-abuse instruments.
Gianoutsos also was charged with drug possession after officers said they found a sleeping pill in his pocket.
Both men pleaded innocent Friday in Warren Municipal Court and were released on bond — $1,000 for Guerrero and $2,000 for Gianoutsos. Each returns to court March 19. Police questioned the third man but made no arrest.
