Mahoning grand jury indicts man whose dog attacked boy

YOUNGSTOWN — A Mahoning County grand jury has indicted the owner of a large Rottweiler dog that attacked a boy on the city’s West Side earlier this year.

Nathan Haynes, 31, of Judson Avenue, faces two fourth-degree felonies for reportedly not confining or restraining the dog. Haynes is free on a $5,000 bond. A fourth-degree felony carries a penalty of up to 18 months in prison.

Police said the boy was walking from the old Stambaugh School on the West Side on Jan. 19 when the dog broke loose from its chain at 2339 Donald Ave. and attacked him.
