YOUNGSTOWN — A house was shot up in the 1400 Block of Victor Avenue on the city’s East Side around 8 p.m. Thursday, and a man was shot in the left arm in the same vicinity around the same time. Police did not know Thursday if the two incidents are related.

The occupant of the house said he heard shots, and he and his 4-year-old son and 16-year-old cousin hit the floor. They were not injured, but police found two bullet holes in the kitchen door and another in the bedroom wall, both areas on the north side of the house.

While police were en route to investigate the shots fired at the home, they were informed that people in a red Chevrolet were firing at people in another car in the area of Victor and Buckeye Court. It was reported that about 30 shots were fired, and one of the occupants of the car that was fired at was driven by friends to Northside Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound of the upper left arm.

By the time police arrived, the friends of the victim, a 23-year-old male, had left and could not be questioned about the incident.

YOUNGSTOWN — Three men were robbed at gunpoint and two of the victims pistol-whipped around 7 p.m. Thursday as they left an apartment in the 600 Block of Griffith Street.

One victim, a 21-year-old man, said he was robbed by a man carrying a rifle with a shoulder strap, and his two friends, who had left the apartment before him, were robbed and pistol-whipped.

The assailants let the 21-year-old go after robbing him, and he called police. He said his friends drove to Northside Medical Center for treatment. However, when police went to Northside to talk to them, they had left the hospital. Staff confirmed that the pair had been pistol-whipped, according to a police report.
