Argus Lodge 545 member is honored


CANFIELD — Argus Lodge 545, F&AM, presented the E. Tom Brown Award to longtime member Donald Van Meter during the Feb. 13 meeting.

The award was established to honor those who have lived up to the Masonic pledge of Service Above Self, have followed the principles of Freemasonry, and have been an ambassador for the lodge.

Van Meter, of North Jackson, is a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He is also a captain and commander with the 105th regiment Civil War Re-enactment. He served as a 2nd Class radar technician with the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1965, and retired from Republic Steel in 1982.
