Stabbings in city result in 4 arrests

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating separate altercations in two city homes where someone was stabbed or cut.

Costandino Diamantes, 23; Danielle Diamantes, 26; and Donald Lewis, 52, all of North Bon Air Avenue on the city’s West Side, have been arrested and face criminal charges after a fight in the home that left Costandino Diamantes with multiple stab wounds and the other members of the home with cuts and bruises.

Danielle Diamantes and Lewis, who is her father, have been charged with felonious assault. Costandino Diamantes has been charged with two counts of domestic violence. All three are in Mahoning County jail waiting to be arraigned in Youngstown Municipal Court.

According to police reports, Costandino and Danielle Diamantes were involved in an argument Monday that spilled over into Tuesday afternoon. Costandino threatened to leave Danielle, and the couple began to argue over household items that Costandino was taking with him, police said.

The argument reportedly turned physical with the couple punching and hitting each other. Lewis, who also lived in the home, intervened in the fight to help his daughter and began fighting with Costandino, reports said.

Danielle told police she grabbed a small paring knife and stabbed Costandino multiple times in the upper body to make him stop fighting.

Police arrived at the home to find Costandino standing in the street with his shirt off and bleeding from the head and body. He had been stabbed in his left shoulder, upper left side and twice in the middle of his back. He also had a cut on his right upper arm.

Costandino told police his wife did not stab him, however. He said the stab wounds were inflicted by Lewis.

Police said Costandino and Danielle were declaring their love for each other while being arrested.

The police report says Costandino was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center, and his wife and father-in-law were treated for bruises and cuts at Forum Health Northside Medical Center.

Police confiscated a shotgun from the house.

In the second altercation, police arrested a Windsor Avenue man for reportedly stabbing the 50-year-old woman with whom he shares the South Side home.

Police charged Leonard Greathouse, 78, with felonious assault. He is in the county jail awaiting arraignment in municipal court.

According to police, the woman was home cleaning when Greathouse came home drunk about 12:10 a.m. Wednesday and began arguing with her. The woman told police she hid a firearm kept in the house when the arguing started.

The woman told police Greathouse grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the ground and cut her with a butcher knife. It was determined she had superficial cuts on her right leg. The woman repeatedly told police she does not want Greathouse to go to jail.

Police also found and took the gun.
