Robbery suspect pleads innocent

STAFF REPORT

WARREN — Michael Settle, 21, of Ohio Avenue, McDonald, pleaded innocent Wednesday in Warren Municipal Court to aggravated robbery and two counts of receiving stolen property.

Police arrested him on charges of robbing the Toot-N-Scoot drive- thru on Elm Road while in a stolen car.

Police were called to the drive-thru at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday for a man who robbed the business at gunpoint of about $50 to $70 in cash.

A Warren police officer was watching for a car matching the description of the one used in the robbery and spotted one at the corner of Dana Street and Mazda Avenue Northeast.

When the officer followed the vehicle, the car sped up, resulting in a pursuit on Paige Avenue, South Street, Elm Road, Washington Street and Olive Avenue, where the driver lost control of the car, crawled out of the driver’s side window and fled on foot.

Officer Reuben Shaw caught up to the man about 100 yards away and took him into custody.

A Roberts Avenue Northwest woman reported the vehicle Settle was driving had been stolen from near her apartment shortly past noon Tuesday.

The woman said she started the car to warm it up and went back into the apartment. When she returned, the vehicle was gone.

If convicted, Settle could get more than 10 years in prison.
