Woodlands Assisted Living to have grand opening

POLAND — A grand-opening ceremony will be from 1 to 3 p.m. today for Woodlands Assisted Living at HamptonWoods Nursing Center, 1525 E. Western Reserve Road.

Kathy Prasad, founder and chief executive of Woodlands LLC, said the center is designed for people “who are somewhere between independent living and residential care.” It has 52 residential units based on a Main Street concept that is designed to give it a neighborhood feel. The commons area is an architect-designed rendition of New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Home and garden show this weekend in Niles

NILES — The Nature Stone Mahoning Valley Home and Garden Show will be this weekend at the Eastwood Expo Center. This annual event will include more than 100 exhibitors showing the latest in indoor and outdoor home improvement.

The hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 at the door, but senior citizens will pay $4, and anyone 18 and under can enter free. The show is a production of Mid-America Events.

F.N.B. Corp. declares 12-cent dividend

HERMITAGE, Pa. — F.N.B. Corp. said Wednesday that its board of directors declared a quarterly dividend of 12 cents a share on its common stock. The dividend is payable March 15 to shareholders of record as of March 1.

Astro-Coatings to pay penalty to Ohio EPA

STRUTHERS — Astro-Coatings, 27 Main St., has agreed to pay a $23,000 civil penalty to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to resolve hazardous-waste violations, the state said. The company has come into compliance, the Ohio EPA said.

The agency said it found several violations March 25, 2008. They included sending hazardous waste to a facility that was not licensed to accept it and failure to properly evaluate waste, identify the date of a shipment, label hazardous-waste containers and conduct annual training for three employees.

The $23,000 civil penalty will be deposited into Ohio EPA’s hazardous-waste-cleanup fund.
