School will open doors to senior citizens


CANFIELD — Mahoning County Career and Technical Center will open its doors to the community for the annual Senior Citizens Community Day from 8 to 10 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m. Friday.

Students are offering free and discounted services to members of the community age 55 and older with a sampling from each of the school’s programs including free manicures and facials by cosmetology students, a free winter check by auto technology students and tours of the aviation program.

Corsage making, free blood pressure checks and card making are also offered and discounted lunch specials will be available at the student-run Oak Room Restaurant from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Community Day is part of an initiative from SkillsUSA and helps celebrate career and technical education month.
