11 dilapidated Campbell homes to be razed this month
CAMPBELL — The first 11 of 137 properties in the city to be demolished with Neighborhood Stabilization Funds are definitely coming down this month.
Anna DeAscentis, grants manager for the Mahoning County commissioners, said last week that work began on the houses Feb. 1.
ALL Excavating of Youngstown, which is doing the work, said the work should be finished Tuesday. The county is administering the demolitions.
Two other properties that were supposed to come down in the first batch, at 23 12th St. and 58 12th St., were held for routine asbestos-exemption tests, DeAscentis said.
One of them, 23 12th, already has been rebid in another batch of houses, she said. The other will be rebid also, she said.
ALL Excavating is doing the work for $32,700. Campbell received $727,000 in federal NSF funds for all the properties.
