2 achieve Eagle status, honored at ceremony

Eagle Scout awards will be presented to Nathan L. Metze and Kasey J. Conricote at a court-of-honor ceremony Feb. 24 at Canfield United Methodist Church. They are Eagle Scouts 161 and 162 from Troop 25.

Nathan, 13, son of Ron and JoEllen Metze of Canfield, was a member of Cub Scout Pack 25 for four years and achieved its highest rank, Arrow of Light, and received the God and Country Religious Award.

He joined Troop 25 in 2007, with Kevin Prus Sr. as serving as scoutmaster. Nathan has had troop positions of quartermaster, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, scribe and chaplain’s aide. He earned 22 merit badges and special awards: God and Church, Fireman Chit, Totin’ Chip, third-year Pipestone and first-year Heritage.

He also earned the Bob Roberts Memorial Back Patch Troop Award with six points and the 2008 Herman West Most Active Scout Award. He is a brotherhood member of Wapashuwi Lodge Order of the Arrow, participated in the Gettysburg Historic Hike, Klondike Derby, Junior Leadership Training and attended summer camp for three years.

For his Eagle Scout service project he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised building of a display case for the Canfield Middle School bands for grades five through eight.

He is an eighth-grader at the middle school, where he is a member of Leo’s Club, a program of the Lions Club. He also is percussion squad leader with the symphonic band and a member of the school’s Pep Band.

He organized the annual Veterans Day Assembly at the middle school and has been on the high-honors honor roll since fifth grade.

Nathan is a member of Canfield United Methodist Church and its youth group.

Kasey, 15, son of Gail Conricote of Canfield, was a member of Cub Scout Packs 115 and 25 from 2001 to 2005 and attained its highest rank, Arrow of Light.

He became a member of Troop 25 in 2005 and has had positions of patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, historian and quartermaster.

Kasey has earned 21 merit badges and the fifth-year Pipestone Gettysburg Historic Hike Award and the Stambaugh Emblem. He also received the Bob Roberts Memorial Back Patch Award troop award with six points. He took part in the Gettysburg Historic Hike, Allegheny River Canoe Trip and Boy Scout summer camp for five years.

For his Eagle Scout service project, he planned, designed, coordinated and supervised building of a display case for vintage Lionel Train sets at the War Veterans Museum in Canfield.

Kasey is a sophomore at Canfield High School, where he was a member of its varsity hockey team and is a member of St. Michael Church, Canfield.
