Concert to benefit scholarship fund

COLUMBIANA — Heartland Christian School, 28 Pittsburgh St., is partnering with the Main Street Theater to host a benefit concert by the popular band Remedy Drive with special guest Jay Michael at 7 p.m. March 4 at the theater.

Proceeds will benefit the Nick Avery Role Model Scholarship.

Nick was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia while a freshman at the school and was treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. He returned home cancer free in May of 2006 but had a relapse and died Aug. 2006 at the age of 15.

He wrote in his last online journal to his friends, “Life is good” and finished by saying “I have no clue what is going to happen, but know that God has an awesome plan for me.”

The school is continuing that awesome plan through the Nick Avery Role Model Scholarship.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. They are available at the Family Christian Bookstore, Market Street, Boardman, at www.itickets.com, or by contacting the school at (330) 482-2331, or Alisha Avery at (330) 881-5740.
