Youngstown woman dies today in Portage Co. crash

PALMYRA — A 59-year-old Youngstown woman died when she lost control of her car and crashed into an oncoming tractor-trailer on a slippery road.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, investigating the fatal accident, said Janet Caspary of Youngstown was driving her car on state Route 225 in Palmyra Township, Portage County, at 8:05 a.m. today when the accident occurred.

The preliminary investigation by the highway patrol states Caspary, driving northbound, lost control of her vehicle on the wet and partially snow-covered road, slid left of center, off the left side of the road and hit a guardrail, the patrol said.

Her car went back on the road and into the path of the tractor-trailer driven by a Cortland man.
