New Verizon store
BOARDMAN — Verizon Wireless will build a new store in the vacant space at Applewood Commons that was created when an Arby’s restaurant was torn down, Kutlick Realty announced.
Verizon will relocate the store that is now across Boardman-Poland Road from the site. Construction on the 4,500-square-foot store will begin later this year, the commercial real-estate firm said. It also is marketing the vacant space in the plaza created by the closing England Custom Furniture Direct store.
First Niles dividend
NILES — First Niles Financial has declared a cash dividend of 12 cents a share on common stock and 13 cents a share on preferred class A stock, payable March 19 to shareholders of record on March 5. First Niles is the parent company of Home Federal Savings and Loan Association of Niles.
Wolford to attend mixer
STRUTHERS — Eric Wolford, Youngstown State University’s new head football coach, will attend a Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 4 at Kelly Pavlik’s 13th Round Sports Pub & Grille, 162 S. Bridge St. Other guests will be P.J. Fecko and Dan Reardon, head coaches of the football teams at Cardinal Mooney and Ursuline high schools, and Pavlik, a world-champion middleweight boxer.

Working-Class lecture
YOUNGSTOWN — The Working-Class Studies Lecture Series continues Tuesday with a presentation titled “Factories and Steel Workers: Constructions of Class in Contemporary Native American Literature.” The presentation by Michele Fazio, assistant professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, will be at 7:30 p.m. in the Presidential Suite of Kilcawley Center. The public is invited. The presentation will consider two contemporary novels about working-class characters by American Indian writers.
Positive People Network
BOARDMAN — The Mahoning Valley Positive People Network will have its monthly meeting Tuesday at Buffalo Wild Wing’s private banquet room in the Southern Park Mall. A mixer starts at 5 p.m., with the program running from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The mixer and meeting are open to anyone, and the network is designed to bring business professionals and community leaders together to share tips and techniques to keep a positive mental outlook. Scott Fullerton, a local human resources and marketing consultant, will lead a discussion Tuesday on ways to create positive outcomes in a person’s life.
