CANFIELD— “Spiritual Gifts: A Choir Concert” is the theme of a program planned for 3 p.m. Feb. 21 at Canfield Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 123 S. Broad St. A free-will offering will be taken. There will be refreshments.

The choir, directed by Sally Ifill with guest soloist Jessica Crowell, will sing selections that emerged from slavery.

Guest pastor

Life skills

VILLA MARIA, Pa. —Sister Nancy Sylvester will be the main speaker for “Living in a Time of Impasse” planned March 14-20 at Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center. The retreat will focus on how to cope with struggles with people and systems. Retreatants will enter into experiential processes rooted in communal contemplation and dialogue that invite personal transformation within this communal setting.

Performance set

BOARDMAN — A Valentine’s Day performance of “My Name is Ruth” will be presented by the 34west Theater Company during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at Glenwood Christian Fellowship, 7872 Glenwood Ave.

The production is a romantic-comedy based on the Old Testament story of Ruth. It features Magdalyn Donnelly of Philadelphia in the lead role and is suitable for all ages. A free-will offering will be taken after the performance.

Diocesan guild

CAMPBELL — The Diocesan Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will meet Feb. 24 at St. Lucy Roman Catholic Church, 394 Tenney Ave. The rosary will be at 10 a.m. and the Mass at 10:30.

Bible study

NORTH LIMA —Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., will sponsor a Bible study, “Road to Coronation,” from 6:30 to 8 a.m., 10 a.m. to noon and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 24. The sessions will help participants understand the Passion narratives in the Gospels. The cost is $10 for the booklet. Call the church at (330) 549-2406 to register.

Gospel concert

YOUNGSTOWN — Beulah Baptist Church, 570 Sherwood Ave., will host a Gospel concert with the New Mighty Sons of Joy at 4 p.m. Sunday. The youth of the church will do miming. There also will be a skit on Rosa Parks titled, “Give Up That Seat.” The events are part of the church’s observance of Black History Month.

First Friday Club

BOARDMAN — Brother Guy Consolmagno of the Vatican Observatory is the featured speaker for the next meeting of First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown on March 4. Brother Consolmagno will speak on the topic: “Religion and Science: What’s the Connection.”
