Pulled from burning car

GREENFORD — Three men pulled a Sebring woman from a burning car along state Route 165, just as firefighters arrived to help her out of a coat that was on fire. “She’s one lucky lady,” said Todd Baird, Green Township fire chief. Stella Hardet was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown for treatment. No information was available on her treatment Thursday evening.

Hardet had been having trouble with the heater in her car when it caught fire about 4 p.m. Thursday, Goshen Township police said. She pulled into the lot of South Range Middle School but remained in the car. “She panicked and couldn’t get out of the vehicle,” Baird said.

The engine compartment and front seat were fully engulfed in flames when three men stopped as they were passing by and pulled her out of the car, he said. The names of the men were not available. Firefighters arrived at that time and removed the woman’s coat, extinguished the blaze and took her to the hospital.
