DETROIT — Patrick Marleau scored the lone goal in a shootout for San Jose. Evgeni Nabokov stopped a career-high 50 shots, and Joe Thornton and Dwight Helminen scored in regulation for the Sharks. Johan Franzen and Jason Williams scored for Detroit, and Jimmy Howard made 24 saves.
Senators 6, Capitals 5
OTTAWA — Chris Phillips and Alex Kovalev scored in the third period, and Jason Spezza had a goal and two assists in the first for Ottawa. Brian Elliott made 19 saves to help Ottawa win for the 13th time in 14 games, and hand Washington its second straight loss after a team-record 14-game winning streak. Chris Neil scored late in the second to draw Ottawa even at 4. Milan Michalek and Daniel Alfredsson also scored for the Senators, up 3-1 after the first. Alexander Semin scored his third goal of the game — his 29th of the season — 13:37 into the third to draw Washington within one. Tomas Fleischmann and Jeff Schultz also scored for the Capitals.
Bruins 5, Lightning 4
TAMPA, Fla. — Michael Ryder and Milan Lucic scored two goals apiece, helping Boston to its first three-game winning streak in more than six weeks. Miroslav Satan also scored for the Bruins, who have put their longest winning streak since late December after losing 10 straight. The Lightning allowed four first-period goals and had their longest winning streak since November 2007 stopped at four games.
Hurricanes 4, Sabres 3, OT
RALEIGH, N.C. — Sergei Samsonov scored 1:47 into overtime for Carolina’s fourth straight victory — and Buffalo’s sixth loss in row. Brandon Sutter had a goal and two assists, and Stephane Yelle and Ray Whitney also scored to helped give Carolina coach Paul Maurice his 400th career. Derek Roy scored twice, and Jochen Hecht added a goal for Buffalo.

SUNRISE, Fla. — Roberto Luongo made 31 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, and Alexandre Burrows and Jannik Hansen scored second-period goals for Vancouver.
