FBI searches Ohio home of SCLC chairman

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Federal agents have searched the Ohio home of a Southern Christian Leadership Conference chairman accused of financial mismanagement.

Agents with search warrants also went today to another home in Dayton, and to the local SCLC offices. There, the civil right’s group’s chairman, Raleigh Trammell, told reporters he was cooperating but didn’t know the reason for the searches.

FBI spokesman Mike Brooks says three search warrants were served but he declined to say if they are related to the allegations against Trammell or what agents were looking for.

The Atlanta-based SCLC has been trying to remove Trammell and the group’s treasurer after they were accused of diverting at least $569,000 to bank accounts they controlled.
