Dispute ends between Youngstown school board, commission over transportation services pact

YOUNGSTOWN — An ongoing dispute between the Youngstown school board and a state fiscal oversight commission over a proposed transportation support services contract is apparently over.

The school board and the commission, which has control of district contracts and spending, have agreed to put the contract issue aside while an Ohio Department of Education team does a study of the district’s transportation costs and needs.

That could result in the school board putting out a new request for proposals for a support services package that would be designed to reduce transportation costs, said Anthony Catale, school board president.
