2 Pa. Guardsmen plead guilty to indecent assault charge

LEBANON, Pa. (AP) — Two Pennsylvania National Guardsmen accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside a barracks in 2007 have pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

Sean McMenamin, 25, of Pottstown and 28-year-old Alan Ledford Jr. of Coopersburg pleaded guilty last week in the December 2007 assault at Fort Indiantown Gap.

McMenamin pleaded guilty Friday and Ledford pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of indecent and simple assault. Felony charges of sexual assault were dropped.

A third guardsman, Matthew Taggart, 24, of Springfield, pleaded guilty to the same charges last year.

Authorities say the three men assaulted a 36-year-old civilian who visited the base.

McMenamin and Ledford are scheduled to be sentenced in April.
