Worse weather elsewhere cancels Ohio flights

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio airport schedules are dotted with cancellations, mainly due to more serious winter weather elsewhere.

Cleveland Hopkins airport reported that many flights today were not taking off for Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago and the New York City area. The airports serving Columbus and Cincinnati reported similar cancellations.

Most flights have been canceled at Philadelphia’s airport since 8 p.m. Tuesday, and Washington airports have halted all but a few flights.

Continental Airlines scrapped all 400 of its flights today at Newark Liberty Airport in New Jersey.

Light snow fell across Ohio this morning while blizzard warnings were in effect for the Mid-Atlantic and Chicago dug out from 7 inches of snow.
