COLUMBUS — Delphi Corp.’s Trumbull County operations will receive $979,000 in federal stimulus funds to improve energy efficiency.
The auto supplier will convert boilers from steam heating to gas-fired heating and replace four tube-fired boilers with three steam generators that are more energy efficient.
The annual energy savings is to be $388,000.
The funding was announced Monday by Gov. Ted Strickland. Eighteen Ohio projects received a total of $11.8 million in federal funds to improve energy efficiency.

UPS seeks more cost savings from its pilots
ATLANTA — Shipping giant UPS is again telling its pilots they need to agree to more cost savings or the company will have to furlough at least 300 of them.
UPS gave the same ultimatum to its roughly 2,800 pilots last year but said it would delay furloughs for at least 10 months after pilots agreed to more than two-thirds of the cost cuts the company wanted.
The earlier promise not to furlough pilots ends April 1. UPS said Monday the first group of pilots will be furloughed in May if another cost-cutting deal isn’t reached.
