AUSTINTOWN — Thursday’s meeting of the Saxon Retirees has been canceled, due to the inclement weather.

Angels to serve breakfasts

CANFIELD — A Valentine Day breakfast of all-you-can-eat pancakes with bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, coffee, orange juice and milk will be served from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in Andrews Hall at Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Road.

Admission is $7, and children under 6 eat free. Also available will be Belgian waffles for $2 extra.

Proceeds will benefit “Ban the Big Bellies” Spay Day USA, which provides low-cost spay/neuters for those with financial need.

Happy Hearts set Valentine dance

YOUNGSTOWN — Happy Hearts Junior Tamburitzans will have a Valentine dance Saturday at the St. George Croatian Center, 3200 Vestal Road.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and from 7 to 11 p.m. music for dancing will be played by Ice ’n Spice. There will be door prizes, a bake sale and a 50-50 raffle. The cost is $5, and children 12 and younger are free.

The kitchen will be open to sell cevapcici, haluski, pizza, hot dogs and other foods. Frozen apple and cheese strudel will also be sold. To reserve a strudel call Windi Kresic, (330) 980-9384, or Merri McCracken, (330) 502-9476.

Sears takes donations of blankets for veterans

Sears customers are asked to show their support for homeless veterans by donating gently used blankets for Operation Blanket, which ends Feb. 18.

All Sears stores are participating. In exchange for a donation, Sears will provide each customer with a coupon for 20 percent off any one home fashion or home decor item, or a coupon for 10 percent off any one housewares, luggage or furniture item (excluding mattresses). Customers will receive a coupon for each blanket they donate.

TimeBank event planned

YOUNGSTOWN — A TimeBank Mahoning Watershed event is scheduled for 5 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Rotelli’s meeting room, 4698 Belmont Ave., in the Liberty Giant Eagle plaza.

Dinner will be at 5 p.m. at your expense. A free workshop titled “Balance Work and Family” at 6 will be presented by Ohio State University Extension Service. The event is open to the public, and time credits will be earned.
