IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Programs offer free tax help for taxpayers who qualify. VITA offers services to low- and middle-income taxpayers. The IRS-sponsored TCE program provides free tax help to people age 60 and older.
