3 acquitted in Ohio teen's restraint death

CLEVELAND (AP) — Three former employees of an Ohio treatment center for troubled teens have been acquitted of all charges in the death of an unruly 17-year-old girl who died after being restrained face-down on the floor.

A jury today acquitted Cynthia King, Lazarita Menendez and Ebony Ray of involuntary manslaughter and child endangering in the death of Faith Finley.

Menendez was also found not guilty of felonious assault and inciting to violence.

The women were fired from the Parmadale Family Services center after Finley died in December 2008.

The county coroner ruled Finley’s death a homicide, saying she suffocated and choked on her own vomit.

Authorities said she suffocated after being restrained with a technique that’s now prohibited in the state.
