Keep the snow shovels, snow blowers ready; more snow on the way
YOUNGSTOWN — As the Mahoning Valley continues to dig itself out from the major weekend snowstorm, more snow is on the way.
But it won’t be “a crushing snowstorm” like the one the Valley had Friday night into early Saturday, said Jim Kosarik, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service
About 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected for Tuesday, starting in the afternoon, Kosarik said.
Then there will be another 2 to 4 inches on Wednesday, he said.
The Valley is under a winter storm watch through Wednesday evening.
There’s also a 30 percent chance of snow showers on Thursday.
Friday is the only day this week without snow in the National Weather Service forecast.
There’s a chance of flurries Saturday.
While the official NWS snow accumulation for the weekend was 8.4 inches, there were reports of about 20 inches of snow throughout the area, including Austintown and Salem.
The NWS’s official weather measurements are taken at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna.
