Fundraiser for abused, neglected children

BOARDMAN β€”The Mahoning County Court Appointed Special Advocate Program would like to invite the public to join them for a fun afternoon. CASA representatives will host a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 20 at The Bounce Around, 6961 Southern Blvd. (next to Home Depot).

Preschool to preteen children are invited to join in the fun. A $5 admission price covers all inflatable slides and bounces for the entire three hours. Pizza, pop and water will be available for sale. Free cupcakes will be available while supplies last. Parents must stay with their children during the event.

The profits from this event will benefit the CASA program, whose volunteers are a voice for abused and neglected children in Mahoning County. For more information, call the office at (330) 740-2239.

Support local history

YOUNGSTOWN β€” The next meeting of the Friends of The Museum of Industry and Labor will be at 5 p.m. Monday at the museum, 151 West Wood St. The Friends is a communitywide committee that has been organized to promote and support the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor and local history. Census test training

YOUNGSTOWN β€” Centenary United Methodist Church, 1413 Belmont Ave., will be the site of census test training from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The Youngstown Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People will offer this practice pre-test to allow people the opportunity to learn more about the census procedure and the final test. This pre-test procedure will also provide applicants a better understanding before taking the final census exam required to participate in the census process. This pre-test is open to the public; seating is limited. Call Youngstown NAACP Branch at (330) 782-9777 between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays to make a reservation. The NAACP is sponsoring the event in conjunction with Black History Month.

Tod Cemetery cleanup

YOUNGSTOWN β€” The annual cleanup of Tod Homestead Cemetery will take place March 15. All decorations, including solar lights, will be removed at this time. Anyone wishing to recover their decorations must do so before this date.
