The Boardman High girls swim team split a pair of meets last week, dropping Poland 128-58 and Howland 106-63.

The Spartans lost to Canton McKinley 111-71 and Glenoak 119-66 in the last week of the dual meet season.

Boardman finished the regular season with a 8-6 overall record, including 2-4 in the Federal League.

In the win against Poland, Boardman had three double winners in the individual events.

Junior Jessica Gonda took firsts in the 200 individual medley (2:27.85) and the 100 butterfly in a career-best time of 1:05.01.

Sophomore Emily Bodamer won the 50 and the 100 freestyle events in the times of 27.35 and 59.98, respectively.

Freshman Colleen Manning won her two events, the 200 freestyle in 2:08.14 and the 500 freestyle in a career-best time of 5:43.07.

Senior Jeana McEvey won the 100 breaststroke with a 1:17.56, while freshman Gaby DeAscentis posted a 1:09.37 in winning the 100 backstroke.

Boardman won all three relays.

“We are excited about the end of this season and the sectional championships and the next couple years with our girls team. We are hoping to get all three of our relays out of sectionals and qualifying for the district championships,” said coach Terry O’Halloran.

The Spartan girls will compete in the sectional championships at Ocasek Natatorium at the University of Akron Saturday at 8 a.m.
