Neighbors | Shaiyla Hakeem. All three of these pre-kindergartner's would rather wear a tooth brush than a mouth. Anthony Lucente (left), Vinnie Ballone (center) and John Spagnola sit earnestly as they listen to dental hygiene tips for a Small Smiles Dentel Center representative.

Poland Boardman Child Care Center, 1940 Boardman-Poland Road, made dental hygiene exciting for their kindergartner readiness class on Jan. 29.

Kids made a personal dental hat, either a tooth brush or a mouth, and were enlightened on what a trip to the dentist would be like.

Small Smiles Dental Center, 3353 Mahoning Ave., sent dental assistant Maria Dupanty to explain the importance of proper dental hygiene,

Students were told to brush twice a day, singing the ABC’s twice ensuring two minutes of brushing, and to have their parents check their teeth when their complete.

Dupanty had the students practice, using their fingers, brushing their teeth in a circular motion and a front-to-back motion for teeth in the back of the mouth.

Students were also able to see what Small Smiles Dentist Office looks like from photos posted on a display board in the front of the room. Each student was given a new tooth brush and dental literature to take home.
