National author supports Right to Read Week
Glenwood Middle School was graced with the presence of award-winning author Shelley Pearsall Tuesday in honor of Right to Read Week.
Students prepared for the visit by reading a couple of her books. Fifth and sixth-graders read “All Shoot Up” while seventh and eighth-graders read “Crooked River.”
The day was broken into segments to accommodate all grades. Pearsall spoke with fifth and sixth-graders first, followed by the English Festival and Power of the Pen participants.
She ended the day with the seventh and eighth-grade students. She was also available to sign books between sessions.
Pearsall visits, on average, 50 schools a year and thanks to Kathie Rothman, language arts department leader, Glenwood was included.
She has sold more than a quarter million books nationwide and has received national recognition.
Pearsall is a native of Ohio and has been writing since childhood.
