D.A.R.E. to graduate
Sixth-grade students at St. Joseph & Immaculate Heart of Mary celebrated Jan. 20 at a graduation ceremony that marked the completion of their participation in the DARE Program with Austintown Police Officer Jeff Toth.
The ceremony was attended by the students, their teacher, Mrs. Caroline Mulhull, principal John Rozzo, Toth and two special guests — Chief of Police Bob Gavalier and newly elected Austintown Trustee Jim Davis
The program required that the students create posters and write personal commitments conveying the benefits of making drug-free choices now and in the future.
According to Toth, Gavalier and Davis, the DARE Program is a proven method of reducing illegal drug use and increasing the ability to make better life decisions.
The evening concluded with refreshments and fellowship to celebrate the success of the program.
