Boardman trio signs on dotted line

Three Boardman High senior student-athletes signed letters-of-intent to continue their athletic careers at Big Ten colleges next year.

J.T. Moore elected to stay in state and signed with Ohio State and Coach Jim Tressel. Classmate Chase Hammond chose another Big Ten school, signing with the Wisconsin Badgers. Ryan Phillis inked his letter to attend Indiana University next fall.

All three made their decisions official Wednesday during a signing ceremony at the high school.

In all, 27 players from Mahoning and Trumbull counties signed letters-of-intent with Division I and I-AA schools Wednesday.

Youngstown State signed a total of 15 players, including five from the Mahoning Valley.
