Police looking for 3 who robbed YSU students, others at gunpoint

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are looking for two men who walked into an Ohio Avenue home and robbed the occupants at gunpoint.

According to police, the victims — three of them students at Youngstown State University living in the area immediately outside of campus — were all in their late teens or early 20s. There were four men and one woman in the house at the time of the robbery.

Police said a black man in his 30s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing 300 pounds with a stubble beard and carrying a gun, walked into the house through an unlocked front door just before 10 p.m. Thursday.

He was followed by another black man in his 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and wearing a ski mask over his face with a multicolored hoodie.

The gunman made the victims lay face down on the floor while rummaging through their pockets. He took a debit card and a cell phone, and threatened to come back if there was no money on the debit card.

The two men left through the front door and were gone before police arrived.
