Ohio braces for up to a foot of snow
COLUMBUS (AP) — Forecasters say parts of Ohio could receive up to a foot of snow courtesy of a big storm that will slowly work its way through the region.
It’s expected to arrive as a mix of rain and snow before changing to all snow by this afternoon, with the snow continuing into Saturday. The National Weather Service says snowfall totals could be cut if the switch from rain comes later than anticipated.
Some school systems chose to cancel Friday’s classes rather than mess with the storm. Cincinnati pretreated major roads, while Dayton attached plows to its fleet of 43 trucks and loaded them with salt.
If it’s any consolation for Ohioans, the state is not expected to be hit as hard as areas to the east. Washington, D.C., could get up to two feet of snow.
